The long way round
Swallow a tablet and it begins an unhurried journey. It has to break apart in your stomach, then be absorbed across the wall of your small intestine, then travel through the portal vein to your liver — whose job includes dismantling foreign compounds — before whatever survives is released into general circulation.

The catch: technique is not optional

Chewing or swallowing undoes the whole design
Both send the dose down the digestive route the format exists to avoid. Place it under the tongue, leave it undisturbed until it has dissolved completely, and hold off eating or drinking meanwhile.
